First posts always suck, and are hard to figure out what to talk about. Especially considering I haven't "blogged" since 9th grade.
I guess I could introduce myself? Even though the only people reading this already know me pretty well.. oh well, don't care!
My name's Katie. I'm a 17 year old senior at James M. Bennett High School. It's... interesting, to say the least. I really enjoy school, except for the whole waking up when it's still dark out thing. I plan on going to college to become a high school history teacher, so it's a good thing I like it. I used to hate school only up until like, two years ago. I mean HATE. I would text my mother everyday begging her to come get me or let me leave, I could not stand being there. I'm not really sure what came over me, but I think it was when I realized I'm actually smart, when I apply myself (thank my momma for that one, it was forced upon me!).
I work at Goin' Nuts Cafe, it's okay I guess. I keep being told that I'm not supposed to like any crappy high school job, which sucks. I get paid decently since I get tips, even though sometimes it feels like it's not worth it. The restaurant is going through a bit of a financial hardship so there isn't much to speak of in means of business, but I do enjoy my co-workers!
I would say I ride horses but that's not true, because I only ride one horse, and saying "I ride a horse" sounds a little silly. I've had my darling baby Callie since 2004, and we have been through a lot. I have been riding since probably 2002, maybe earlier maybe later. My interest in horses was spurred on due to all of my friends at the time being involved with them. My cousin Marissa rode, and was moving down to North Carolina to have her own horses, my neighbor Shannon rode at a barn that was a walk away, and we spent a lot of time down there, then my best friend, Shelby, had horses (and a mule) of her own, which I learned to ride on. My horse experience previous to being put on Shelby's mule, Rachel, was next to nothing, and that mule taught me a hell of a lot. I'm so glad that I learned to ride on her; she was easy, but definitely stubborn. She taught me to not be afraid to take control, and that horses (and mules.. whatever) WILL push your limits. Shelby is also where I got my horse, Callie from. After many failed attempts at finding the horse I would click with, Callie had been there all along. I was so afraid of Callie before, she always made mean faces when Shelby rode her. She would swish her tail and buck a little when you asked to canter, she raced over jumps, but she really needed someone to love her, and I needed a horse to love. We instantly clicked, after much force on Shelby's behalf, convincing me we'd work great together. I'm so glad I have her, I've put so much work into her, and she's grown up to be a wonderful horse with a ton of personality. =)
I play video games, a fair amount of them. Mostly World of Warcrack (WoW) lately, and Wii (Animal Crossing, and Sonic Unleashed are my two newest additions). I play WoW in accompaniment with my awesome boyfriend Jared (he is much better and more serious than I am, but we still have fun playing together). For a while, I had gotten into Call of Duty and Halo with my brother, but that soon died when COD5 came out and online is only 1 player, so I'm not included in those shenanigans.. *mutters*. I've always been a huge Nintendo geek, and I'm a devout Zelda, Meteroid, and Starfox fan. Fascinating, I know.
Basically, I love life. I'm blessed to have such a wonderful family, boyfriend, and some great friends (the few, the true). I don't know what I'd do without them!
...and I'm done. I'm not very interesting, I know. Trust me, there'll be more interesting posts, I was just feeling boring this evening!
